Transgender & Gender-Affirming Rhinoplasty

Transgender and Gender-Affirming Rhinoplasty: My Approach

Gender-affirming rhinoplasty is one of the most powerful ways to align facial features with a patient’s identity. My approach focuses on creating harmonious, natural results while preserving breathing and long-term stability.

I perform gender-affirming rhinoplasty for patients who are transitioning for more feminine results, but also for patients who may be seeking a more masculine result as well. A large percentage of the transitioning patients I operate on have had a prior rhinoplasty done with their facial feminization surgery and the nose was “thrown in.” We often can fix these to make them more beautiful and natural looking.

For Transfeminine Rhinoplasty

Goals often include:

  • softer, more refined nasal tip

  • narrower nasal bridge

  • reduced dorsal hump

  • more rotation

  • balanced, delicate proportions

  • potentially a lower radix

Structural technique ensures the nose remains stable and feminine long-term.

For Transmasculine Rhinoplasty

Goals may include:

  • stronger, straighter profile

  • increased dorsal height

  • straighter, more defined angles

  • less rotated nose

The goal is strong, masculine structure without appearing overbuilt.

My Technique

Regardless of gender goals, I use:

  • precise control of rotation and projection

  • ultrasonic tools for accuracy

  • computer imaging to align aesthetic goals

This allows me to achieve stable, natural results that match each patient’s identity.

Why Experience Matters

Gender-affirming rhinoplasty requires:

  • understanding of masculine vs feminine nasal aesthetics

  • highly technical structural work

  • comfort with augmentation and reduction techniques

  • sensitivity to the emotional and social importance of the change

Every patient’s goals are unique — there is no template.

Bottom Line

Gender-affirming rhinoplasty is a deeply individualized procedure. My role is to create a nose that matches your identity while preserving long-term function, structure, and natural harmony.
